IIS can not authenticate a website when viewed on the server itself

Hello,

I am having a strange issue that I am hoping someone can help me with. I have a Windows 2012 Server running IIS8 that I am setting up to host some internal websites for our organization. I have a dns entry set up on the directory server providing it a name. I have installed an SSL certificate and checked "Require SSL" in the IIS manager and I have enabled Windows Authentication for the site.

If I attempt to access the site by name from any computer in our organization it works just fine, tested with 3 different computers so far with 3 different web browsers. What is weird is if I try to access the site by dns name using a web browser installed on the IIS server itself it will ask me to provide a username and password but it will not accept them, it just keeps coming back with the logon screen until I hit cancel at which point it throws an HTTP Error 401.1 -Unauthorized. When this happens an Event 4625 is logged in the Security Event Log with the following perhaps useful bits of information. Securiy ID: NULL SID, Account Name: -, Account Domain: -, Logon ID: 0x0, Failure Reason: An Error occured during Logon. Status: 0xC000006D.

I find it very strange that the problem only seems to occur if I attempt to view the site from a web browser installed on the IIS server itself and would appreciate any input that can be provided.
