In a big giant government agency. Trying to do (a bit rouge) HTTPS from a local machine (Win 7) with the IIS ... like a prototype/demo. Totally internal, totally "localhost or machine name" .... no "www." invlovled.
I understood the certificate request, etc. but don't understand going to a 3rd party Trusted Vendor ... ie. GoDaddy, etc. We just cannot do that with the bureaucracy here. The central Sharepoint people are doing HTTPS, obviously they must have a certificate (from Verisign, etc.) of some sort.
How can we create an certificate to be used internally, so that we can get the HTTPS working for the IIS.... so that the user will not get an alert saying that is not a very good HTTPS certificate.... without involving a single $.
