I have already asked this question on the asp.net forum for reference http://forums.asp.net/t/2051737.aspx?Windows+Authentication+permissions but can't seem to get a concrete answer.
All the documentation I have read says that I should be able to control access to the site through windows authentication by changing the web.config file and adding specific users and/or roles to the Authorization section. I have done this in many different ways and nothing works. Users can't access the site. The only way users are able to access the site is by adding them through the IIS interface by right clicking on the site, going to edit permissions and add them that way. But that doesn't seem to appear in any of the documentation.
Can someone please help with the correct way to setup this intranet site using windows authentication?
